Three weeks down a lifetime to go...

Emmaline decided to join us on December 28, 2009. I had my first contraction at 9:28 am and she was born 9:37 pm. We (I) spent the day laboring at home and left for the hospital around 5:15 pm. She was born four hours after we checked in. I was always worried we would head to the hospital and get sent home so we waited quite a while to head in. I'm glad we went when we did though. I wouldn't want to have her on the side of the road! We did have a great experience and wouldn't change a thing about it. Our midwife and nurse were so great. All the nurses and staff at the hospital were very nice and helpful. My Mom and sister joined us in the delivery room. We couldn't have done it without them. Ben was such a great support to me also. He wasn't afraid to get right in there, he was able to help our midwife bring the baby up to my chest and he cut the cord. Emmaline came out screaming and completely alert. She is very healthy, tiny, has a good set of lungs, strong-willed, beautiful, loves to eat, enjoys snuggling, has a full head of curly hair... she's just so sweet and we feel so blessed to have her. She came right on time. God knew we needed to get through the holidays and services and then it was time to meet our daughter. It has been such blessing to have family and friends around to help us out. Ben's parents were able to come out and spend a week with us and my brother and sister-in-law are here for a week now. We've really enjoyed sharing Emmaline with everyone.
